چکیده

Vegetation phenology, as used and studied the related studies, refers to the relationship between climate and periodic development of photosynthetic biomass. selected 15 Hornbeam plots (Carpinus betulus) from study area in a mountainous region from 520m to 1310m above sea level. Ground observations of hornbeam tree growth process from January to December 2004 in 15 day intervals were performed both visually and by measuring leaf chlorophyll concentration (Chlorophyll meter SPAD-502)and also we used a seasonal 8-day composite MODIS/NDVI. The Results for the regression analysis showed that the Leaved period positively correlated with the air temperature(r =0.894). Anthesis and SPAD measurement have negative relationship with air temperature and as temperature increases they appear earlier in year. Anthesis and SPAD measurement had correlation coefficients of r =-0.883 and r =-0.855 respectively. Regression analysis showed that there is a positive relationship between NDVI and SPAD measurement (chlorophyll contents) in hornbeam trees. The mid April was recognized as the mean onset period of vegetation green-up while late November as the mean onset period of vegetation dormancy for the entire national level. The development of remote sensing methods to measure leaf chlorophyll content and surface spectral reflectance has received much attention since variations in leaf chlorophyll content can provide information concerning the physiological state of a leaf or plant.

Autumn coloring, photosynthetic performance and leaf development of deciduous broad-leaved trees in relation to forest succession.

Autumn coloring of deciduous broad-leaved trees in northern Japan was found to develop either from the inner part of the crown outward (inner-type), or from the outer part of the crown inward (outer-type). Inner-type trees had early-successional characteristics, whereas outer-type trees had late-successional characteristics. Although alders (Alnus hirsuta (Spach) Rupr. and A. japonica (Thunb.) ...

Compare the Phenology of Fritillaria, Bellevallia and Muscari species in National Botanical Garden of Iran

Phenology is one of the important issues in ecology, which studies various stages of plant life and its relation with climatic and ecological conditions. Useful information for the production cycle is obtained by evaluating the various stages of native species development. In this research, the phenology of 17 species of Fritillaria, Bellevallia and Muscari in the National Botanical Garden of I...

Temporal disparity in leaf chlorophyll content and leaf area index across a growing season in a temperate deciduous forest

Spatial and temporal variations in canopy structure and leaf biochemistry have considerable influence on fluxes of CO2, water and energy and nutrient cycling in vegetation. Two vegetation indices (VI), NDVI and Macc01, were used to model the spatio-temporal variability of broadleaf chlorophyll content and leaf area index (LAI) across a growing season. Ground data including LAI, hyperspectral le...

Leaf damage does not affect leaf loss or chlorophyll content in the New Zealand pepper tree, kawakawa (Macropiper excelsum)

Kawakawa (Macropiper excelsum) is an understorey, forest tree which sustains conspicuous and substantial herbivory from the larvae of a geometrid moth, Cleora scriptaria. This study examined the relationship between leaf abscission and the amount of damage a leaf had sustained. In the field, kawakawa trees showed no increase in the rate of leaf shedding in response to experimental damage by C. ...

Beyond leaf color: Comparing camera-based phenological metrics with leaf biochemical, biophysical, and spectral properties throughout the growing season of a temperate deciduous forest

Plant phenology, a sensitive indicator of climate change, influences vegetation-atmosphere interactions by changing the carbon and water cycles from local to global scales. Camera-based phenological observations of the color changes of the vegetation canopy throughout the growing season have becomepopular in recent years. However, the linkages between camera phenological metrics and leaf bioche...
